Having worked in practice for several years after graduating, in 2008 he decided to follow his passion and paint full-time. His paintings are characterised by their depictions of people in everyday situations and are imbued with a fascination of our interaction with the built environment. Kavanagh’s work has been described as being like a ‘modern-day Lowry’ and the artist himself has acknowledged L.S. Lowry as being a huge influence in his art.
